Aston Villa are considering a January loan swoop for out-of-favour Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson according to reports from the Birmingham Mail.
Villa boss Steve Bruce is keen on a temporary deal for the former West Ham loanee, who has fallen down the pecking order in north London in recent weeks after some rocky performances for the Gunners.
Earlier in the month, Arsenal manger Arsene Wenger claimed that the England international had ‘no confidence’ after being highlighted for criticism after the 2-0 defeat to Southampton at home in the EFL Cup, which bought an end to their 19-game unbeaten run.
Wenger opted to use centre-half Gabriel Paulista as a make-shift right-back in the 5-1 win at Jenkinson’s former club West Ham, before first choice full-back Hector Bellerin returned against Stoke from the bench at the weekend.
With Alan Hutton still the main option for Bruce at Villa Park, he is looking for fresh options in order to make an instant return to the top-flight.
The Villans were 1-0 winners over Wigan at the weekend but need a strong second half of the season as they currently sit 13th in the Championship standings.
