Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will already be looking ahead to the January transfer window.

Last season the Gunners topped the Premier League table for several months before ultimately being leapfrogged by Manchester City, who went on to win the title for the fifth time in the past six seasons.

The Spaniard could therefore look to use the January transfer window to bolster his squad ahead of the second half of the campaign, with his side currently sat third in the table.

Equally, it appears that one of Arteta’s defenders is a primary target for an Italian club.

As per La Gazzetta dello Sport via The Express, centre-back Jakub Kiwior is a top target for Serie A giants AC Milan.

The Polish defender joined the Gunners from Italian side Spezia in January, and played a key role for Arteta’s side during the latter stages of last season after first choice centre-back William Saliba suffered an injury.

Kiwior could leave Arsenal during the January transfer window

He made seven Premier League appearances last term, starting five of them, but has been limited to just two league starts so far this season.

Saliba and Gabriel have been Arteta’s first choice central defensive pairing for some time now and Kiwior, who can also play as a left-back, has failed to topple Oleksandr Zinchenko as Arsenal’s first choice on the left of defence.

The report claims that Milan are keen to sign the Poland international on loan and have made him their first choice central defensive target ahead of the January transfer window.

The Italian giants are said to have been impressed by the defender during his time with fellow Serie A side Spezia.

During his time there, the 23-year-old made 43 appearances for Spezia across all competitions.

His current contract with Arsenal is set to run until 2028.
