Arsenal are considering selling striker Alexandre Lacazette in order to fund a move for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, according to reports.

The French striker has started the season in good form, scoring in the victories against Fulham and West Ham in the opening two Premier League matches.

However, the Independent report that the Gunners are contemplating selling their number 9 in order to bring in money to buy Aouar.

Mikel Arteta wants to bolster his midfield and it’s claimed that the Lyon captain is his top transfer target.

Arsenal have been chasing Aouar all summer.

However, the Ligue 1 club’s £54million valuation has proved a real stumbling block with Arsenal seemingly needing to sell to raise the funds required.

It’s thought that this could see them sacrifice Lacazette, who has two years left on his contract at the Emirates.

Since moving to North London from Lyon in the summer of 2017, the 16-time France international has scored 50 goals for the Gunners.
