Arsenal are reportedly eyeing the the signature of versatile RB Leipzig player Tyler Adams.

The 22-year-old, who has made 13 appearances for the German side in all competitions this term, plays predominantly in central midfield but can also be utilised as a right-back.

According to German outlet SportBILD (via The Sun), the Gunners are keeping a close eye on Adams who has a release clause of £32.25 million.

It’s claimed that the North London side were preparing a swoop for the United States international in the summer.

However, they temporarily shelved those plans after signing players such as Ben White, Martin Odegaard, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Aaaron Ramsdale.

Adams joined Leipzig in January 2019 after impressing for fellow franchise club New York Red Bulls and has since become an important player in the heart of their midfield.

The New York-born player, who has 20 caps for his country, has impressed in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League, most notably against sides such as Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

Adams’ versatility could prove highly beneficial to Mikel Arteta, who has had to rotate his squad on a number of occasions this term due to injuries.

Granit Xhaka is still sidelined, while fellow midfielder Thomas Partey has also had his fair share of injury issues since a move from Atletico Madrid in October 2020.

So it will be interesting to see if, come January, the Gunners follow up their reported interest in an attempt to bring Adams to the Emirates.
