Arsenal reportedly had a world record £90m bid rejected for Gabon international star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Premier League side, who have dropped down to fourth in the English top-flight standings following Sunday’s 1-1 North London derby draw against rivals Tottenham, have been continually linked with Borussia Dortmund’s star striker during previous transfer windows.

The 27-year-old, who has 51 international caps for his country, has impressively scored 14 goals and provided three assists in 14 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.

Aubameyang, who started his professional career at Italian side AC Milan, was attracting interest from the Gunners and the likes of La Liga giants Real Madrid after a remarkable 2015/16 campaign in Germany.

The forward netted 39 times in 49 games in all competitions for Dortmund last term, interesting Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger as the Frenchman bids to win his, and the club’s, first league title since their ‘Invincible’ 2003/04 campaign.
