Arsenal have agreed to let midfielder Jack Wilshere leave the club on a season-long loan as he looks for more regular first team action after being left out of Sam Allardyce’s first England squad on Sunday, according to Sky Sports.

The 24-year-old’s career has been marred by injury since making his debut for the Gunners aged 16, having picked up 12 injuries in the years since his first team bow.

With such question marks over his fitness, manager Arsene Wenger has been strengthening his midfield with new signings over the last year or so, with Swiss midfielder Gran Xhaka the latest addition, which limits Wilshere’s chances.

England manager, Sam Allardyce quoted the midfielder’s lack of first team action as he left him out of his maiden squad for the Three Lions first 2018 World Cup Qualifier against Slovakia on Sunday.

Speaking after his squad announcement, the former West Ham and Sunderland manager said:

“Jack just hasn’t had enough game time. Hopefully he will get that in the future at Arsenal,

“If Jack Wilshere was playing every week for Arsenal he would be in the squad, but unfortunately he isn’t. It is game time for him and it has been few and far between because he has had too many injuries unfortunately,” he added.

“It is a question of game time and the contribution he is making to Arsenal and he is not doing that at the moment, so I left him out.”

According to The Mirror, a move to a lower ranking Premier League side could be an option, although a season abroad in Spain or Italy also look like viable options.

Two other Arsenal youngsters who look set to leave The Emirates this summer are defender Calum Chambers and Serge Gnabry, who are reportedly joining Middlesbrough and Bayern Munich respectively.

The former Southampton man is reportedly joining the Premier League new boys on a season long loan whilst the Germany’s Olympic sensation is set for a permanent deal with the European giants.
