On-loan Bournemouth midfielder, Jack Wilshere, has fired back at Sky Sports pundit and former Cherries midfielder Jamie Redknapp after he claimed that the England international’s Arsenal career was over.

The 24-year-old, who completed 90 minutes of football for the first time since September 2014 against Tottenham on Sunday, made the loan switch on Deadline Day in order to kick-start his injury-stalled career.

Speaking as part of Sky’s coverage of Eddie Howe’s side’s 0-0 draw with unbeaten Spurs, Redknapp said of the midfielder:

“I don’t see a future [for Wilshere] at Arsenal any more. I think now he’ll realise he has to get away from Arsenal.

“It’s too comfortable for him there. He is not going to get into the team at Arsenal.”

Having been told of the comments Wilshere, who is yet to pick up an assist or a goal in eight appearances for the South Coast side this season, replied:

“I don’t know where he got that from.

“I’m just trying to get back to what I was, enjoying my football and playing week-in, week-out and today was a massive step towards that.

“I’ve not really thought about that so how other people can comment on it…

“If he doesn’t see me going back to Arsenal then that’s up to him. He’s entitled to his opinion but I haven’t thought about that.”
