Arsenal are enjoying something of a resurgence of late, as they extended their unbeaten run to nine games across all competitions with victory over Leicester on Saturday afternoon.

The run follows three straight victories in August, against Brentford, Chelsea and Arsenal, and has been credited to some extent to the Gunners’ lack of European commitments.

Mikel Arteta’s side failed to qualify for any European competition last season for the first time in a quarter of a century, and are therefore enjoying a much less hectic schedule than many of their rivals.

However, despite their side’s absence from the competition, it appears that fans of the North London outfit are still tuning in to watch Champions League matches.

This is because a large section of the club’s support have taken to social media to encourage the club to make a move for RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku.

Nkunku gave Leipzig the lead against PSG on Wednesday night

The winger scored in Leipzig’s 2-2 draw against his former club Paris Saint-Germain, taking his tally for this season’s Champions league to five goals in four games.

His performance didn’t go unnoticed by Arsenal fans, who were buoyed by Italian outlet Calciomercato’s report that the club are interested in the player.

The Gunners are apparently interested in signing the 23-year-old, who is valued at around £42.5 million but does still have three years remaining on his deal with his current employers.

Nkunku could add welcome attacking threat to Arteta’s side, who will likely lose Alexandre Lacazette in January have looked short of ideas in attack at times this campaign.

The 23-year-old has scored 10 goals in 16 games so far this season, and has also provided five assists for his teammates.

Arteta and technical director Edu will likely be keeping a close eye on Nkunku, but with three years left on his current contract, Leipzig will be reluctant to let him leave any time soon.
