Arsenal followed up a 1-0 win over Everton with a 4-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Spaniard David Raya, who joined the Gunners from Brentford over the summer, made his debut against the Toffees and was also selected for the game in midweek.

The ex-Blackburn Rovers man has impressed in both games, keeping two clean sheets, and it appears that he may have leapfrogged Aaron Ramsdale in the pecking order at The Emirates.

The Englishman had been Arsenal’s first choice sever since arriving in North London, but it appears that his stance on dropping down the pecking order is clear.

According to Football Insider, Ramsdale is not willing to be the second choice at Arsenal, which could cast doubts over his future at the club.

Raya has been preferred to Ramsdale for Arsenal’s last two matches

This could result in the goalkeeper potentially leaving the Gunners if he has no route back into the starting lineup.

Ramsdale, 25, joined Arsenal from Sheffield United in 2021 and has made 83 total appearances for the North London outfit.

The England international has kept 30 clean sheets during his spell at the club.

The goalkeeper has also made four senior appearances for England but has struggled to take the number one spot from Everton shot-stopper Jordan Pickford.

Ramsdale – who has previously been relegated with both Bournemouth and the Blades – signed a new contract extension in May 2023, which means that he is contracted to the Gunners until 2026 with an option to extend it by a year.

The ‘keeper will no doubt fight for the starting spot in between the sticks, but an option to leave for a new start will be on the cards for the goalkeeper if Raya continues his excellent form.
