Arsenal are slowly but surely turning the tide of their season, with Mikel Arteta’s side now unbeaten in three league games and sitting in a far more promising position than they were a month ago.

After three games of the season, the Gunners were goalless after defeats to Brentford, Chelsea and Manchester City and found themselves rock bottom of the table.

A month on, however, things are looking up following victories over Norwich City and Burnley and a morale boosting derby win over bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Goals from Emile Smith-Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Piere-Emerick Aubameyang put the hosts in a a commanding position at half-time, and they held on to secure a crucial victory and leapfrog their rivals.

Now, it appears that there is more good news for the Gunners as talks between one of their transfer targets and his current club have reportedly broken down.

According to Dutch publication Voetbal International, Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana has edged closer to the exit door at the Eredivisie side, after his employers cut off contract talks with the player.

The Cameroon international had been linked with a move to North London over the summer as they chased a ‘keeper to provide competition for places alongside Bernd Leno.

Ramsdale has impressed since joining Arsenal and made a number of good saves against Spurs on Sunday

A move never materialised, however, and Aaron Ramsdale was instead signed from Sheffield United.

The Englishman has impressed since signing, keeping four clean sheets in six games across all competitions this term.

The report suggests that Onana could still be a target for Arsenal, however, as Leno appears to have been left out in the cold since falling behind Ramsdale in the pecking order and could push for a move away.

The Ajax ‘keeper is currently serving a 12 month suspension for breaching anti-doping rules.

The 25-year-old’s current contract expires next summer, but Ajax could opt to cash in on the player in January, rather than losing him for free at the end of the season.

It has, however, also since been reported that Onana is in talks to join Italian side Inter Milan on a free transfer.
