Arsenal and Mikel Arteta’s season got off to a horrendous star, and now they have the ominous visit of Chelsea up next.

The Gunners’ lack of European football and their £50 million signing of Ben White had many pinning the North Londoners as the ones to watch this season.

However, they were overpowered and thoroughly beaten by Premier League new boys Brentford on Friday, with goals from Sergi Canos and Christian Norgaard securing a 2-0 win for The Bees.

It is a large fall from grace for one of England biggest and most historic clubs.

However, they are looking to hit the transfer window once more, and according to the Mirror, they have received a huge boost in their bid to sign Martin Odegaard.

Odegaard could be returning to Arsenal this summer.

The Norwegian enjoyed a very productive loan spell at the Emirates Stadium last season, proving to be one of the bright lights in a dark season for the Gunners.

While he was not able to prevent Arsenal from missing out on European competition for the first time in 25 years, he is viewed as one of the players who can drive them back up the table.

Chances of signing the 22-year-old permanently looked slim as it appeared Real Madrid wanted to retain the player they signed as a 16-year-old from Stromsgodset in 2015.

However, reports have suggested the players agents have flown to London in what is a huge boost for their chances.

He made 29 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions scoring twice and assisting twice.

It is likely he would have made many more were it not for ankle and knee injuries during his loan spell.
