Arsenal have signed goalkeeper David Raya permanently following his loan spell at the club last season.

The Gunners confirmed on Thursday that the Spaniard has signed for the club permanently, leaving fellow London side Brentford for a reported fee of £27 million as part of an option-to-buy clause.

Raya made more than 40 appearances for Mikel Arteta’s side across all competitions last term, and he has now signed a long-term contract with the North London side.

Now, it appears that the transfer may prompt a boost to Arsenal’s transfer budget for this summer’s window.

As reported by The Express, Raya’s permanent arrival has made Arteta acutely aware that selling Aaron Ramsdale could be a simple way to raise funds.

Ramsdale is currently on international duty with England at the Euros in Germany

Ramsdale, who is currently on international duty with England at Euro 2024, was knocked down the pecking order at The Emirates when Raya arrived last summer, and he made just 11 appearances across all competitions.

It is claimed that the 26-year-old could now leave Arsenal in the coming weeks, with Arteta keen to bolster his transfer budget for the remainder of the window.

Ramsdale has previously been linked with several Premier League clubs – including Chelsea and Newcastle United – and is valued by his current employers at around £30-40 million.

The Englishman joined the Gunners from Sheffield United in 2021 and has now played 89 times for the club across all competitions, keeping 32 clean sheets.
