Arsenal will target Manchester United’s Eric Bailly and Chelsea’s Gary Cahill in January, according to ESPN.

Unai Emery wants to add a defender his squad with Rob Holding expected to be out for the rest of the season after suffering cruciate ligament damage in the 2-2 draw at Manchester United earlier this month.

And the Gunners, who are currently on a 21-match unbeaten run in all competitions, have reportedly pinpointed the Red Devils and Blues centre-backs as potential options.

Bailly, 24, has failed to hold down a regular place in the side under Jose Mourinho, making just eight appearances this term.

Eric Bailly has been in and out the Manchester United team.

The Ivorian is also thought to be interesting Italian side AC Milan but it is unclear whether United will allow the player to move on.

Meanwhile, Cahill has made just one appearances in the Premier League since Maurizio Sarri took over at Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Cahill has gone from first-team regular to benchwarmer under Maurizio Sarri.

It’s being reported that the West London club could let the former England international leave the club on loan which would provide a suitable short-term solution for Arsenal.

However, it remains to be seen if Chelsea would let the 32-year-old go to a side that look as if they could rival them for a place in the top-four come the end of the season.
