Arsenal reiterated their Premier League title credentials with a stunning 6-0 win over London rivals West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.

Mikel Arteta’s side followed up a win over Liverpool with an emphatic victory at The London Stadium, with goals from William Saliba, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel, and Leandro Trossard putting the Gunners in a convincing position at half-time.

After the break, Saka added his second and Arsenal’s fifth, before former Hammers captain Declan Rice netted the sixth with a stunning long-range strike.

The result keeps Arsenal third in the table, just two points behind league leaders Liverpool.

Following the game against West Ham, it appears that Arsenal are hoping to agree a new contract with one of their young stars.

According to Football Insider, the North London club are confident that teenager Ethan Nwaneri will sign his first professional contract, despite interest from Premier League champions Manchester City.

Arsenal are confident that Nwaneri will sign a contract with the club

Nwaneri, 16, made his second senior appearance for the Gunners when he was substituted on towards the end of Sunday’s 6-0 victory, having made his debut for the club against Brentford last season.

The report claims that the youngster has already agreed to sign a contract when he turns 17 in March.

The teenager is versatile, being able to play in a number of roles including as an attacking midfielder and on either flank.

Nwaneri has already been capped by England at Under-17 level, and has played for the Gunners at both Under-18 and Under-21 level.

His impressive form for the club’s youth sides has put the player firmly in Mikel Arteta’s plans, with Nwaneri having netted 15 times in 23 games for Arsenal’s Under-18s.

As well as Man City, fellow Premier League giants Chelsea are also said to have shown an interest in the teenager.
