Arsenal have reportedly emerged as favourites to sign Spain international striker Alvaro Morata this summer, according to the Mirror.

The Premier League side, who finished second in the English top-flight standings last term behind eventual champions Leicester City, have been continually linked with a move for the Real Madrid forward ahead of the forthcoming 2016/17 campaign.

The 23-year-old, who has 13 international caps for his country and featured for Spain at this year’s EURO 2016 Championships in France before their Round of 16 exit to the hands of Italy, scored 12 goals and provided 12 assists in 47 appearances at Juventus last season.

Morata, who has recently re-joined Madrid from the Serie A champions after the La Liga giants activated his £23m buyback clause, is a summer transfer target for both the Gunners and Premier League rivals Chelsea.

However, the report suggests that Arsene Wenger’s side are favourites to land the Spaniard as they can offer him Champions League football next term.

Madrid are understood to have set an asking price of £65m for Morata’s signature.
