Arsenal have reportedly emerged as favourites to sign Jamaica Under-23 international starlet Leon Bailey, according to the Mirror.

The Premier League side, who drew 3-3 against Liverpool on Friday night, have been strongly linked with the highly rated Bayer Leverkusen ahead of the forthcoming January transfer window.

The 20-year-old, who has featured once for Jamaica’s Under-23 side, has scored eight goals and provided four assists in 16 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga side so far this season.

Bailey, who joined Leverkusen back in January following his reported £12.4m move from Genk, has netted eight times in 26 games overall for the German club.

Having scouted the forward twice within the last week, the report suggests Arsene Wenger’s Gunners are hot on the heels of the Jamaican winger, though Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea are also thought to be interested in his services.

Arsenal could kick start a potential bidding war with a £30m New Year offer.
