Arsenal will face Spanish sides Girona and Real Betis as part of their preparations for the upcoming season.

The Gunners stormed to the Premier League title last term, having finished second three times on the bounce prior to their triumph.

Mikel Arteta will be desperate to see his side defend their crown, and the Gunners will begin their defence with a home game against Championship winners Coventry City on the opening night of the new season.

Away from the action, though, it appears that Arsenal are eyeing a move for a highly-rated defender that previously impressed in England.

As per CaughtOffside, Arsenal are considering a possible move for RB Leipzig full-back Lutsharel Geertruida as they look to bolster their squad in that particular area.

The Dutchman spent last season on loan at Sunderland and made 30 appearances for the Black Cats during a successful loan spell, helping Regis Le Bris’s side to qualify for the Europa League.

Arsenal are said to be on the hunt for a new right-back, and the 25-year-old has been added to their shortlist after impressing the club’s scouts with his versatility, the report says.

The Gunners are also said to value the player’s experience, with Geertruida having made almost 200 top flight appearances across spells in England, Germany and the Netherlands.

The right-back’s current contract with Leipzig is set to expire at the end of the 2028/29 season, but it appears that he could be on the move this summer.

Liverpool are also said to have shown interest in the player, but neither Premier League side has yet made an official offer for the defender, according to the report.
