Arsenal welcome Premier League leaders Liverpool to The Emirates on Sunday in what promises to be an enthralling encounter.

Mikel Arteta’s side lost 2-0 against Bournemouth last time out, allowing Liverpool to extend their lead over the Gunners to four points.

Reigning champion Manchester City sit second in the table, a point behind the Reds.

Sunday’s match could prove decisive in the title race by the end of the season, and Arteta will be desperate to see his side return to winning ways in the league after the disappointing defeat against the Cherries.

Now, it appears that Arsenal could try to sign a former Man City star.

As per Football Insider, the North London side are interested in Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane.

The 28-year-old joined the German side from Man City back in 2020 and has since scored 49 times in 181 games for the Bavarian outfit, as well as providing 50 assists.

Sane (centre) has been linked with a shock move to Arsenal

It is claimed that Sane is the ‘mystery Germany’ that Arsenal had attempted to sign during the recent summer transfer window.

Sane’s contract with Bayern is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, meaning that he could sign a pre-contract agreement with any club outside of Germany in January.

Arsenal’s interest in Sane comes despite the signing of Raheem Sterling from Chelsea over the summer.

The Englishman has added depth to Arteta’s options on the right flank, with Bukayo Saka having played over 90 matches over the course of the past two full seasons.

It is claimed that those in charge of Arsenal believe Sane – who won two Premier League titles during his time at City – would add valuable depth and experience to Arteta’s squad.

The report also suggests that Sane’s ability to play on the left flank furthers Arsenal’s interest in the Germany international.
