Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing England and Manchester City star Raheem Sterling.

The 26-year-old starred for the Three Lions at Euro 2020, scoring three goals as Gareth Southgate’s side reached the final.

However, since returning to club action, the forward has only two Champions League and five Premier League matches this term.

According to the Manchester Evening News’ Ian McGarry, a lack of game time has Sterling considering his options, one of which is claimed to be Arsenal.

“It’s the case that his representatives have met with Man City and are saying their player does not wish to continue or indeed explore an extension on his contract,” said McGarry on The Transfer Window Podcast.

“Instead, they would prefer to explore the option of a loan deal, which they would like to begin in the January window. Whether or not that’s possible remains to be seen but there are several interested parties, including Arsenal.”

Sterling joined Man City from Liverpool in 2015.

Mikel Arteta signed various players in the summer with the likes of Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale and Martin Odegaard moving to the Emirates.

However, adding Sterling, who has 98 Premier League goals and three titles to his name, would add quality, a winning mentality and experience to Mikel Arteta’s squad.

The Spaniard also knows the ex-Liverpool star well from his spell as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at the Etihad Stadium.

With Man City looking set to challenge on three fronts this term, we will have to wait and see if Guardiola would let his number 7 move on.

One thing is for sure, with a World Cup on the horizon, Raheem Sterling will be aware he needs to be playing regular football if he is to guarantee himself a spot in Southgate’s competitive starting XI.
