It’s fair to say that Arsenal and boss Mikel Arteta have had a rollercoaster season so far.

The Gunners made a terrible start to the campaign by losing their first three Premier League games.

However, they have since put together an eight-match unbeaten run in all competitions, which included a morale boosting 3-1 win over rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Arteta and sporting director Edu brought in the likes of Ben White, Sambi Lokonga, Nuno Tavares, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Aaron Ramsdale in the summer, as the club look to recruit younger talent with room for development.

Now it’s being reported that the Spaniard is eyeing a deal for another player under the age of 25 in the upcoming transfer windows with a move for Denis Zakaria, according to Bild (via the Daily Star).

Zakaria has two goals in seven Bundesliga matches this term.

The Switzerland international is currently playing for Borussia Monchengladbach but is free to discuss a pre-contract with other clubs in January as his contract expires next summer.

It’s claimed that the Gunners are one of those clubs who are interested in adding the 24-year-old midfielder to their ranks but they are expected to face competition from Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma.

Zakaria has played 136 times for Monchengladbach and already has 38 international caps having made his senior Switzerland debut at the age of 19.
