Arsenal are reportedly lining up a surprise move for England international Michael Carrick this summer, according to the Daily Cannon.

The Premier League side, who welcome Crystal Palace to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon, are interested in snapping up the Manchester United midfielder once the current 2015-16 campaign has drawn to a close.

The 34-year-old, who has 34 international caps for the Three Lions but is not expected to feature for England at Euro 2016 later this year in France, has provided one assist in 36 appearances in all competitions for Louis van Gaal’s men so far this season.

Carrick, who is out of contract at Old Trafford this summer, still hasn’t been notified over whether he will be offered a new deal by United’s hierarchy.

With the likes of Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini set to leave the Gunners once the season has concluded, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has identified fellow veteran Carrick as an experienced replacement for the Londoners.
