Title chasing Arsenal host high-flying Nottingham Forest when the Premier League returns this weekend.

The Gunners have finished second in each of the past two seasons and had been tipped by many people to go one better this time around, but they find themselves nine points behind leaders Liverpool after just 11 games.

A run of two draws and two defeats in their past four matches has seen Mikel Arteta’s side lose ground in the race for the title, but the Spaniard will hope to see his improvement when his team take on Forest on Saturday.

Away from the Premier League’s return, it appears that Arsenal are considering a move for a highly-rated Real Madrid youngster.

According to Spanish outlet Sport via GiveMeSport, the North London side are monitoring Real star Arda Guler.

The Turkish winger joined the Spanish giants from Fenerbahce last year, but he has since failed to nail down a starting spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

The 19-year-old competes with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo for a place in the Real side, and the report suggests that he could seek a move away from the Spanish capital in search of more regular football.

In total the teenager has played just 24 times for the current Champions League holders, starting just three La Liga games this term.

The report also suggests that Arsenal perceive Gules’s current situation as being similar to that of current Gunners captain Martin Odegaard, who struggled for game time at Real Madrid before departing for The Emirates.

It is claimed that Arsenal could launch a loan move for the Turk as they look to bolster Arteta’s midfield options, similar to the way that they initially loaned Odegaard from Real before signing him permanently in 2021.

Since then, the Norwegian has gone on to become the Gunners’ captain and is an integral part of Arteta’s side.
