Arsenal are reportedly closing in on sealing the summer signing of Switzerland international Granit Xhaka, according to the Mail on Sunday.

The Premier League side, who face Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon, have been linked with numerous moves for the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder during previous transfer windows.

The 23-year-old, who has 41 international caps for his country and is set to star for Switzerland later this year at Euro 2016 in France, has scored three goals and provided one assist in 31 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.

Xhaka, who is valued at around £30m by the German side, is close to finalising a switch to the Emirates according to the report.

However the Gunners are only wanting to pay £20m for the defensive midfielder’s services this summer, but both parties are expecting a deal to be reached by the time the German summer transfer window officially opens on July 1.
