Arsenal are favourites to land a deal for Exeter City midfielder Ethan Ampadu ahead of Premier League rivals Liverpool, according to reports from the Liverpool Echo.

The 16-year-old, who has made ten appearances for the League Two side so far this season picking up one assist, was once a trialist with the Reds, but now it appears the north London side are leading the way for his signature.

The Gunners have not won his favouritism alone, however, they have a big helping hand in the matter. The Wales U19’s international’s father, Kwame, is an academy coach at their London Colney training centre.

The midfielder is equally as adept playing in the role of centre-half as he is in the middle of the park, a trait which will attract any coaches looking to help his development.

Both clubs have a history of producing top young players, and Liverpool’s Ben Woodburn, an international teammate of Ampadu’s, is just the latest example of that on Merseyside.
