Arsenal goalscoring great Iain Wright has backed Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane to become England’s record goalscorer.

The 26-year-old has netted 26 times in 41 matches for his country since making his debut back in 2015.

Wayne Rooney is currently the Three Lions’ all-time leading marksman with 53 goals from 120 international matches.

But Wright, who himself notched nine goals from 33 caps, is in no doubt that Kane will surpass Rooney’s record.

Captain Kane won the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup.

Without a doubt, if he stays fit, if he produces like we’ve seen him produce, and the likes of Raheem Sterling continue to create, he will definitely beat that record,” the ex-striker told ITV.

Kane followed a hat-trick in England’s 4-0 win against Bulgaria with a fourth goal in two matches against Kosovo in a thrilling 5-3 victory at St Mary’s on Tuesday.

The victories keep Gareth Southgate’s side top of their Euro 2020 qualifying group with four wins from four matches.
