Brighton & Hove Albion fans will be able to watch the club’s final two games safe in the knowledge that the Seagulls are safe for another year, following Fulham’s defeat at home to Burnley on Monday evening.

The result confirmed the Cottagers’ relegation, just 24 hours after West Bromwich Albion were relegated following defeat to Arsenal.

Brighton are now safe and, despite currently sitting just one place above the bottom three, could finish as high as 12th if results elsewhere go in their favour.

However, with the summer transfer window quickly approaching, Graham Potter’s side could have a task on their hands to keep their prized assets.

A number of the Seagulls’ players have impressed this season, none more so than midfielder Yves Bissouma.

The Mali international has been in sensational form in the middle of the park at the Amex, and has seemingly attracted the attention of a number of clubs, in the Premier League and beyond.

Manchester United and Liverpool have been credited with an interest in the player, and a former Premier League star has weighed in on the speculation surrounding him.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright, who played 253 times for the North London side, has urged Bissouma to join United, instead of Liverpool.

Speaking on Ringer FC Wright’s House podcast, the ex-England international explained his reasoning.

“Bissouma’s making it clear now he wants to leave,” said Wright.

“Bissouma at United…that fits. He’s very good.

“You look at Bissouma and he’s looking at Liverpool, we know that Liverpool have had their problems this season, and you have got to choose between them and Manchester United in this current climate.

Bissouma has been in imperious form for Brighton this season.

“I’m probably going to go with United. At Liverpool, there’s a lot of guys getting towards that 30 age bracket – Van Dijk, Henderson, the three guys up front.

“You think to yourself ‘yeah, Liverpool are magnificent with what they’ve done these last couple of years.’ But you look at United and what they are on the cusp of doing, it’s a much more attractive proposition right now, much more.”

Bissouma had been touted as a potential replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum at Liverpool, with the Dutch midfielder’s contract expiring this summer.

However, United have also been on the lookout for a more defensive minded midfielder to compliment the attacking capabilities of Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes, and Bissouma could be the perfect fit.
