Arsenal finish their Champions League group phase campaign with a trip to face Spanish side Girona on Wednesday night.

The Gunners have almost certainly secured their place in the last 16 o the competition, barring a remarkable swing in goal difference.

Mikel Arteta may decide to rotate his squad for their trip to Spain, with several important Premier League matches on the horizon.

Having kept alive their title hopes with a narrow 1-0 win over Wolves last time out, the North London side host reigning champions Manchester City on Sunday.

Off the pitch, though, the end of the January transfer window is fast approaching, and it appears that Arsenal have admitted defeat in their pursuits of three top targets.

According to GiveMeSport, the Gunners are now considering a last minute loan move for a new striker after admitting defeat in their pursuits of Alexander Isak, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha.

Those in charge of the Gunners’ recruitment have been on the hunt for attacking reinforcements this month amid the fluctuating form of Kai Havertz and the concerning injury record of Gabriel Jesus.

Newcastle star Isak, 25, has emerged as a top target for Arsenal, but the Magpies are unwilling to sell the player this month.

Isak won’t be allowed to leave Newcastle this month

Isak has been in fine form this term, netting 16 times in his last 15 Premier League games.

Cunha, meanwhile, has impressed for Wolves but the Molineux outfit are unwilling to part ways with the Brazilian midway through the season, especially as they still risk relegation.

The 25-year-old has scored ten goals in 22 Premier League matches this term, and Wolves have therefore put a £60 million price tag on the forward to deter potential interest.

RB Leipzig star Sesko, 21, is also unlikely to be available and Arsenal are therefore considering a late loan move for an alternative target to bolster Arteta’s attacking options before the end of the transfer window.
