Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Belgium international starlet Youri Tielemans, according to Sport Mediaset.

The Premier League side, who take on Championship outfit Brentford in the Carabao Cup third round this evening (19:45) at the Emirates Stadium, have been linked with a move for the AS Monaco midfielder.

The 21-year-old, who has 15 international caps for his country, has scored two goals in nine appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 club so far this season.

Tielemans, who only joined the French side from Anderlecht back in May 2017 following his reported €25m (£22m) transfer, has netted three times in 44 games overall for the club.

However, the report claims Monaco could look to offload the Belgian central midfielder next year, during the forthcoming January or summer transfer window, despite starting all of this campaign’s league games under manager Leonardo Jardim.

Tielemans, who started both of Belgium’s victories against England at the 2018 FIFA World Cup this summer, is contracted at Monaco until June 2022.

He struggled to nail down a starting spot at the Stade Louis II last term, starting 18 league games for Monaco, failing to find the back of the net.
