Arsenal will kick-off the new Premier League season on Friday evening, as they travel across the capital to face newly-promoted Brentford in the season’s opener.

New signing Ben White will likely start at the heart of the Gunners’ defence, while fellow new-boy Nuno Tavares could also hope to be given the nod.

Despite completing two signings, manager Mikel Arteta will undoubtedly be frustrated that the club haven’t secured some of their other targets.

At the start of the window, the club identified goalkeeper, a central defender, a full-back, a central midfielder and a striker as being top of their wishlist.

Despite being linked with a number of names, the club are yet to sign a goalkeeper, midfielder or striker.

However, it appears that the North London side are being made to wait on one of their top targets.

Odegaard could be on his way back to Arsenal amid concerns over his first-team opportunities at Real Madrid.

According to DefensaCentral, Martin Odegaard’s future at Real Madrid is in serious doubt after the midfielder was left out of a recent pre-season friendly.

The Norway international spent the second half of last season on loan at Arsenal and impressed during his time in England.

Now, it appears that Arsenal are having to wait for Odegaard to make a decision on his future before making a move to sign him permanently.

If the 22-year-old decides that he does wish to leave, it is believed that Arsenal will be at the front of the queue to discuss a potential deal for the player.

Odegaard made 20 appearances for the Gunners last season, and scored in the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.
