Chelsea face a tricky test on Wednesday evening as they travel to Merseyside to face rivals Liverpool.

The Blues were held to a goalless draw by Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round last time out, while the Reds cruised to a 5-2 victory over Norwich City, setting up a fifth round tie against Watford or Southampton in the process.

With the transfer window set to shut on Thursday, Chelsea are one of several top flight English clubs that are yet to sign a player so far this month.

Despite enduring a difficult season so far – and having spent more than £1 billion over the past 18 months – the West London club are yet to make a signing.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, although the Nigerian was always more likely to depart Naples this summer as opposed to mid-season.

Now, though, it appears that rivals Arsenal have enquired about the availability of the striker, according to CalcioNapoli via The Standard.

Osimhen has attracted interest from both Arsenal and Chelsea

The report claims that the Gunners have made contact with the Italian side about the possibility of signing Osimhen, 25.

The Nigeria international, who is currently representing his country at the Africa Cup of Nations, joined Napoli from French side Lille in 2020.

He has since netted 67 times in 119 games for the Italian side across all competitions, including eight goals in 18 matches so far this term.

Last term, the forward scored 26 times in 32 matches to help Napoli win the Italian top flight title for the first time in three decades.

His current contract with the club is set to run until 2026, but it appears increasingly likely that he will depart the club prior to that date.
