Arsenal sit top of the Premier League table after a 2-1 win over Brentford on Saturday.

The Gunners went into the game in third place in the top flight standings, but goals from Declan Rice and Kai Havertz earned Mikel Arteta’s side a crucial win and moved them into top spot.

Manchester City and Liverpool both had the chance to leapfrog Arsenal on Sunday, but the two sides played out a 1-1 draw meaning that Arteta’s side stay top going into the international break.

Off the pitch, Arsenal appear to have made a big decision on the future of one of their key players.

As reported by Football Insider, the North London outfit have no plans to sell full-back Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The 27-year-old has been a key player for Arsenal ever since joining the club from City in the summer of 2022, but he has recently suffered with injuries and lost his place in the side.

Zinchenko has struggled with injuries in recent weeks

Zinchenko returned to action during the win over the Bees on Saturday, coming on as a late substitute at The Emirates.

In his absence, Polish defender Jakub Kiwior had registered a number of impressive displays on the left of Arteta’s back four.

Despite his importance to the team, the Ukraine international has been linked with a move away from North London in recent weeks, with fellow Premier League side Newcastle United and German giants Bayern Munich both said to have shown an interest.

The report claims that Arsenal have no interest in selling the left-back, though, with his current contract not set to expire until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

It is also claimed that Zinchenko is a big personality in the Arsenal dressing room, with his experience highly valued by Arteta and his staff.
