Arsenal have reportedly given up on their attempt to sign France international forward Thomas Lemar this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Premier League side, who thrillingly defeated Leicester City 4-3 in their 2017-18 league opener at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night, have been continuously linked with a mega-money move for the AS Monaco winger this transfer window.

The 21-year-old, who has five international caps for his country, scored 14 goals and provided 17 assists in 55 appearances in all competitions for the defending Ligue 1 champions last season.

Lemar, who featured for the full 90 minutes in Monaco’s 4-1 victory at Dijon, has netted 19 times in 91 games overall for the French outfit since his move from Caen in 2015.

However, the report suggests Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has given up on luring the winger to the Emirates Stadium this summer, having seen several offers for the Frenchman turned down already.

Instead; Wenger is to focus on offloading some fringe players before the close of the transfer window, with Arsenal not expected to complete anymore incomings, having landed defender Sead Kolasinac (Schalke) and striker Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon).
