Arsenal will look to keep alive their Premier League title hopes when they face Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners currently sit top of the standings, but are just one point above reigning champions Manchester City, who have a game-in-hand.

Manager Mikel Arteta will be desperate to see his side continue their strong form, after witnessing a dramatic 3-2 victory over rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby last time out.

In the meantime, it appears that one of Arsenal’s most experienced players is set to sign a new deal with the club.

According to The Athletic, Italian midfielder Jorginho has been offered a new deal by the club and is expected to sign it.

The Italy international’s current contract is set to expire this summer, although it does also include the option to extend by a further 12 months.

Jorginho has been crucial for Arsenal in recent weeks

However, the report claims that the club have instead offered Jorginho an entirely new deal after positive discussions between the two parties.

Jorginho, 32, joined Arsenal from Chelsea in January last year for a fee in the region of £12 million.

He played a bit-part role for Arteta’s side during his first season at The Emirates, but has been crucial for Arteta’s side in recent weeks.

In total the Italian has played 51 times for the Gunners across all competitions, including nine of their last ten Premier League matches.

Fellow midfielder Thomas Partey could leave the club this summer, with his deal set to expire next year.

The central midfielder has been heavily linked with a move back to his native Italy, having formerly played for Napoli before his move to Stamford Bridge in 2018.

Jorginho has made 180 Premier League appearances in total across his spells with Chelsea and Arsenal, scoring 21 goals and providing eight assists.
