Mesut Ozil has suggested that he’s staying at Arsenal in his latest social media post.

The former Germany international has been linked with a move away from the Emirates over the summer.

However, after playing in a friendly defeat against Aston Villa on Saturday, the 31-year-old tweeted ‘Season prep is on’.

The midfielder was left out of the squad which defeated Liverpool in the Community Shield by boss Mikel Arteta, meaning that his last first-team appearance came back in March.

Arteta has enjoyed a progressive start to his Arsenal tenure.

Ozil did miss a large part of the end of the last campaign due to a back problem but with the Gunners gelling, it’s not known whether his Spanish boss would’ve involved the playmaker.

Both fans and the player will get a better idea of where he stands on Saturday when Arsenal make the short trip to Fulham for their first Premier League match of the new campaign.

It will be the 2014 World Cup winner’s eighth campaign at the Emirates having signed from Real Madrid for £42.5million in 2013.
