Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is set to put any doubts surrounding his future to bed by agreeing a new deal at the Emirates Stadium, according to The Sun.

The German World Cup winner sees his current deal at the North London outfit expire at the end of next season, and speculation has been building about whether the £42.5 million-rated star (as per Transfermarkt) will leave the Premier League giants this summer.

Alongside the uncertainty surrounding Arsene Wenger’s future, and indeed that of Alexis Sanchez, it has been a tricky few months for the Gunners, but they did finish the campaign by hoisting a third FA Cup crown in four years to at least give the Arsenal faithful something to smile about.

And it appears that they will get a double dose of delight as reports suggest that 28-year-old Ozil, a £42.5 million signing from Real Madrid back in 2013, is set to sign a new deal at the club, believed to be worth £280,000-a-week.

Although Ozil does sometimes receive criticisms for his efforts, this term was his best in front of goal, as the German international bagged 12 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions, and with 12 assists as well, it’s been a decent campaign for the midfielder.

And he looks set to extend his stay at the North London outfit beyond the summer, and he’ll surely do all he can to help get the club back into the Champions League, and indeed sustain a Premier League title challenge next term.
