Arsenal have stolen a march on half a dozen Premier League clubs by opening talks with Henry Onyekuru.

According to a report on Sky Sports News representatives of the Eupen striker have began discussions to take the 19-year-old to The Emirates.

Southampton, West Ham and Everton have been reported to have watched Onyekuru extensively over the last few months but look like missing out with Arsenal joining the chase.

Onyekuru scored the goals that earned Eupen promotion to the top flight this season and has continued to score freely this term.

Celtic were strongly linked with the Nigerian in January but have been blown out the water by serious interest from the Premier League with bidding expected to start at £8m.

Onyekuru has still to make his full international debut but with new work permit regulations placing an emphasis on the salary being offered Arsenal can be confident of completing the paperwork.
