Arsenal are reportedly edging closer towards sealing a whopping £33.7m deal to sign Switzerland international Granit Xhaka this summer, according to The Sun.

The Premier League side, who comfortably defeated Everton 2-0 at Goodison Park last weekend to get their title bid back on track, have been linked with a swoop for the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder once the current 2015-16 campaign concludes.

The 23-year-old, who has 39 international caps for his country and is tipped to star for Switzerland at Euro 2016 later this year, has scored three goals and provided one assist in 30 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.

Xhaka, who began his career in his native homeland with FC Basel, is reportedly set to be offered a contract worth £120,000-a-week from the Gunners.

The report also suggests that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is confident of wrapping up a deal for the Swiss star after speaking with the player’s father, Ragip.
