Arsenal have reportedly increased their bid to sign Gabon international superstar Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to Bild.

The Premier League side, who face defending league champions Chelsea in their EFL Cup semi-final second leg tonight (20:00), have been heavily linked with completing a deal to sign the Borussia Dortmund star striker before the close of the January transfer window next Wednesday.

The 28-year-old, who has 56 international caps for his country, has scored 21 goals and provided three assists in 23 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.

Aubameyang, who joined Dortmund back in July 2013 following his transfer from Ligue 1 side AS Saint-Etienne, has netted an impressive 141 goals in 212 games overall for the German club.

Following forward Alexis Sanchez’s move to Premier League rivals Manchester United this month, the report suggests The Gunners have increased their offer for Aubameyang from around £48.3m to £50.9m – a club-record figure – in a bid to secure the services of the Gabonese star.

Manager Arsene Wenger has signed two players so far this window – Konstantinos Mavropanos (PAS Giannina) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Manchester United).
