Arsenal have reportedly offered Germany international star Mesut Ozil a whopping £280,000-a-week, according to the Mirror.

The Premier League side, who were thumped 10-2 on aggregate during their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clashes with Bayern Munich, risk losing their key midfielder this summer and are therefore ready to stump up mega money in a bid to keep him in North London ahead of next season.

The 28-year-old, who has 83 international caps for his country, has scored nine goals and provided eight assists in 30 appearances in all competitions for The Gunners so far this season.

Ozil, whose current contract at the Emirates Stadium expires in June 2018, is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal with Arsenal, despite already being the club’s highest earner on around £200,000-a-week, including bonuses.

The German ace originally joined The Gunners back in September 2013 following his reported £42.5m switch from La Liga giants Real Madrid, netting 29 times in almost 150 games overall for the North London outfit.
