Krychowiak is said to be a long-term target for Arsene Wenger.

There are 15 matches to go, and Arsenal are three points from the top of the table, looking well placed for a real go at the Premier League title this season.

The Gunners haven’t won a Championship since 2004, but some of their vulnerabilities have once again come to light in recent weeks, and maybe Arsene Wenger would do well to bring in one of his long-term targets before the transfer window closes next week.

During the 4-0 defeat to Southampton, the 3-3 draw with Liverpool and the 1-0 loss to Chelsea on Sunday, Arsenal especially showed that they missed Francis Coquelin in that defensive midfield position, with Mathieu Flamini still very much unconvincing, and new-boy Mohamed Elneny still something of an unknown quantity.

Grzegorz Krychowiak is said to have been on Wenger’s radar for a while now, and as a solid defensive-minded midfielder who has also appeared at centre-back for Sevilla, he could be the key man to provide protection for Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny, helping deliver that first domestic title in 12 years.
