Arsenal forward Yaya Sanogo is reportedly a January transfer target for Saint-Etienne, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Premier League side, who currently sit joint-top of the top-flight standings alongside Manchester City after defeating Swansea City 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium over the weekend, recording their sixth successive league victory, deem the striker surplus to requirements at the North London outfit.

The 23-year-old, who is a former France Under-21 international, has failed to feature in any competitions for the Gunners so far this season.

Sanogo, who has been loaned out to Crystal Palace, Ajax and Charlton Athletic during his Arsenal career, has found the back of the net just once in 20 games under Arsene Wenger since arriving at the club from Auxerre back in 2013.

However the report suggests that the Frenchamn is wanted by Ligue 1 outfit Saint-Etienne, where they would ideally like to acquire the forward on loan until the end of the current campaign.
