Arsenal will be hoping to keep the pressure up on Premier League leaders Manchester City when they travel to face Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners had topped the table for the majority of the season so far, before a 4-1 defeat against City last week allowed the reigning champions to regain top spot.

Mikel Arteta’s side leapfrogged City with victory over Chelsea on Tuesday, before Pep Guardiola’s men regained first place with a win over West Ham United on Thursday.

The north London outfit now face a tough task against The Magpies, though, with Eddie Howe’s side having won their last three games in a row, scoring 13 goals in the process.

Regardless of how successful this season proves to be for Arsenal, it appears that those in charge of the club are planning to bolster their squad when the transfer window opens this summer.

According to Football Insider, The Gunners are set to reignite their interest in Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Caicedo is set to once again be the subject of interest from Arsenal this summer

The report claims that Arsenal, who were interested in signing the Ecuador international in January, will launch a new bid to sign the midfielder this summer.

During the January window, Arsenal had a £70 million offer for the 21-year-old rejected.

London rivals Chelsea were also interested in the Ecuadorian, who joined Brighton from Independiente del Valle in February 2021.

Caicedo was loaned to Belgian side Beerschot VA in the summer of 2021, but returned to The Amex in January last year and has since been in fine form for the Seagulls.

In total, he has made 46 appearances for Brighton, helping to push Roberto De Zerbi’s side into the top half of the Premier League table this term.

Following interest from Arsenal and Chelsea in January, Caicedo signed a new long-term contract with Brighton which is set to run until 2027 and also includes an option for a further 12 months.

Despite that, the report claims that the player is still keen to leave Brighton when the transfer window reopens.
