Arsenal prepared to let star leave for less than £10 million but can’t find buyer

Arsenal are prepared to let out-of-favour goalkeeper Bernd Leno leave for as little as £8.5 million but are struggling to find a buyer for the player, as per reports.

The German ‘keeper fell behind Aaron Ramsdale in the pecking order at The Emirates in the early weeks of the season, and made just four league appearances.

Now the Gunners have quoted potential suitors just £8.5 million for the player, but they are still struggling to offload him, according to The Sun.

The report claims that Benfica, who have emerged as the frontrunners to land the German, are unwilling to pay the fee demanded by Arsenal and negotiations are currently at a stalemate.

Leno could be playing in Portugal next season

Ramsdale’s position as first choice for the club is under no threat at present, and Matt Turner is set to join Arsenal from New England Revolution and become the Englishman’s deputy.

Arsenal are reportedly hoping to raise £60 million by selling several of the club’s fringe players this summer and Leno, who arrived in the capital from Bayer Leverkusen for around £22.5 million four years ago, is one of those who will be sold.

The 30-year-old, who has been capped nine times by Germany, has made 125 appearances for the Gunners during his time in England, but it appears increasingly likely that he has now played his final game for the club.
