Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side are quietly going under the radar this transfer window.

With the circus surrounding the signing of Harry Kane at Spurs, The Gunners secured the £50 million signing of Ben White from Brighton and Hove Albion.

It was an enormous transfer fee for a player with only one full Premier League season under his belt, but nevertheless it was a signing epitomising the ambition of Arteta’s Arsenal side.

They endured a very disappointing last season, finishing in eighth position, missing out on all European competition for the first time in 25 years.

An immediate bounce back has to be on the cards for the former Manchester City assistant manager, who was under intense scrutiny and pressure last campaign.

However, they look to be throwing everything at this summer’s transfer window as football.london report Arsenal could be set to offer players plus cash in exchange for Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.

Maddison was an important player in City’s FA Cup triumph last season

The 24-year-old has emerged as one of Arsenal’s key targets this season, having contributed eight goals and seven assists in 31 Premier League appearances for the Foxes.

Maddison still has three years left on his contract at The King Power Stadium, meaning any transfer fee will need to be enormous if Arsenal are to sign him.

It is understood Brendan Rodgers’ side are demanding at least £60 million for the creative midfielder’s services.

However, Arsenal could look to circumnavigate this enormous fee by offering players such as Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Joe Willock, Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah.

Arteta is looking to fill the creative midfield void left by Martin Odegaard, who was called back to Real Madrid at the end of his loan spell.
