Arsenal’s line up for the first game of next season could be very different to the XI that started the Gunners’ 2-0 win over Brighton on the final day of the last.

Boss Mikel Arteta is reportedly planning a summer shopping spree after being given a £250 million budget to revamp the club’s squad after a disastrous 2020/21 campaign.

The North London side finished eighth and failed to qualify for European competition for the first time in 25 years, and Arteta, along with technical director Edu, will mastermind a spending spree to rebuild the squad in an effort to improve next season.

A goalkeeper, central defender, central midfielder and striker are all reportedly on Arteta’s list of targets.

Ramsdale replaced the injured Dean Henderson in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

And, according to The Star, Arteta is planning to make a bid for a player to fill one of those positions.

The outlet is reporting that the Gunners will make an offer for Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, after the player returns from Euro 2020.

Ramsdale was drafted into the England squad during the group stages, after Manchester United’s Dean Henderson suffered an injury and had to return to his club for treatment.

The report suggests that the Blades are demanding £40 million for the 23-year-old, who they re-signed from Bournemouth last summer for £18.5 million.

One source in the report states that the bid will be big enough to confirm that Arsenal’s interest in the player is both serious and genuine.

Ramsdale was relegated from the Premier League for the second successive season last term, having dropped to the Championship with Bournemouth the year before.

It is believed that Arsenal see Ramsdale as a potential successor to Bernd Leno.

However, Ramsdale recently insisted that he has no intention of leaving Bramall Lane, despite the club’s relegation.

The England international played all of United’s league games last term, conceding 63 goals and keeping just five clean sheets.
