Arsenal are prepared to break the £200,000-a-week barrier in order to keep star man Alexis Sanchez at the club, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
The Chile international, who has reaped the rewards of being deployed as the central striker in Arsene Wenger’s side this season, is the club’s top scorer this season with 14 from 22 days.
The saga surrounding a new deal for the former Barcelona man, as well as German playmaker Mesut Ozil, has been running for some time now, with the pair reportedly demanding parity with the league’s top earners.
Whilst Arsenal will never offer the duo anything near the wage of the likes of Man United’s Paul Pogba, it appears they are now willing to bend their policies and offer the forward a deal worth £200,000-a-week in a bid to keep him in north London beyond the 18 months remaining on his current deal.
Wenger will be hoping that talk of a new deal will not turn the heads of his side, who face title rivals Man City at The Etihad this afternoon.
