Arsenal are reportedly prepared to meet the £42m asking price to sign France international striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer, according to But Football Club.

The Premier League side, who face Liverpool during the opening weekend of the new 2016/17 English top-flight campaign on August 14, have been continually linked with a move for the Lyon forward.

The 25-year-old, who has 10 international caps for his country but failed to make France’s 23-man squad for EURO 2016 this summer, scored an impressive 23 goals and provided four assists in 44 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit last season.

Lacazette, who won the French top-flight’s Golden Boot award during the 2014/15 term, is wanted by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger after England international and Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy snubbed a move to the Emirates Stadium last month.

The report suggests that Arsenal are ready to launch an improved offer of £42m for the French forward, after already failing with a £33m bid earlier this summer.
