Arsenal moved four points clear at the top of the Premier League table with a 2-1 win over Wolves on Saturday.

First half goals from Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard put the hosts in control at The Emirates and, although Matheus Cunha pulled one back late on for Wolves – Mikel Arteta’s side held on to extend their lead at the top.

Reigning champions Manchester City, who currently sit four points behind Arsenal in second, could decrease the Gunners’ lead with victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.

In the meantime, it appears that Arsenal have made a huge decision n the future of one of their midfielders.

According to Football Insider, the North London club are willing to let Jorginho leave when his contract expires next summer.

The 31-year-old joined Arsenal from London rivals Chelsea in January, but has largely played a bit-part role since moving to The Emirates.

Jorginho could leave Arsenal when his contract expires at the end of the season

In total the Italian has made 33 appearances for the Gunners, but he has only started four Premier League games so far this term.

The report claims that Arsenal are in the market for a defensive midfielder during the January transfer window, and if they sign one it could further decrease Jorginho’s playing time.

It is claimed that the Gunners’ prime target is Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz, who has started the season in sensational form.

While a final decision on Jorginho’s future is yet to be made, it is suggested that both the player and the club are currently of the view that it would be best for him to depart North London next year.

The Italy international has previously admitted his desire to return to his homeland, and the report claims that a number of Serie A clubs would be interested in signing him next summer.
