Arsenal are reportedly unwilling to stump up the £50m required to land Algeria international ace Riyad Mahrez this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Premier League side, who finished fifth in the 2016-17 standings, therefore missing out on qualification for the UEFA Champions League next term, have been heavily linked with luring the Leicester City winger to North London ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

The 26-year-old, who has 30 international caps for his country, scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in 48 appearances in all competitions for The Foxes last season.

Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez.

Mahrez, who arrived at the King Power Stadium back in 2014 following his switch from Le Havre, has netted 35 times in 138 games overall for Leicester, and the winger played an instrumental role in their fairy tale 2015-16 title triumph.

But, having handed in a transfer request earlier this summer, Mahrez’s future is in limbo as potential suitors Arsenal are refusing to meet Leicester’s £50m valuation for the forward, with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger not wanting to splash out more than £35m on the player.
