Arsenal moved top of the Premier League courtesy of a 1-0 win over Brentford on Saturday evening.

Mikel Arteta’s side dominated against the Bees but struggled to find a breakthrough and were left frustrated when Leandro Trossard’s strike was ruled out by VAR.

The game looked to be heading for a goalless draw until Kai Havertz secured all three points for the Gunners with a close range header in the final minute of normal time.

The win lifted the Gunners into top spot in the Premier League table, a point ahead of reigning champions Manchester City who were held to a 1-1 draw by third-placed Liverpool earlier on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale made a rare start for Arsenal against Brentford, with David Raya unable to be involved as he is on loan from the Bees.

The Englishman faces an extremely uncertain future at The Emirates, but Arsenal have recently rejected an approach for the player, according to Football London.

Ramsdale has fallen out of favour in recent weeks

It is claimed that the Gunners have rejected interest from an unnamed bottom half Premier League club for the goalkeeper, who has fallen out of favour in recent weeks.

Ramsdale, 25, joined Arsenal from Sheffield United in 2021 and quickly established himself as the club’s first choice ‘keeper.

He remained a regular starter last season, but has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Raya on loan from Brentford over the summer.

The game against the Bees was just Ramsdale’s fifth Premier League appearance of the season so far, and he was fortunate not to concede in the first half after giving the ball away in his own penalty area.

Although Raya’s move from Brentford to Arsenal is currently on loan, the Gunners are expected to activate an option-to-buy clause to sign the ‘keeper permanently next summer.

Ramsdale therefore faces an extremely uncertain future and will be keen to ensure he is playing regularly in order to give himself the best chance of being included in the England squad for Euro 2024.
